Is a EURCAD backtest published?

Yes — both variants, January 2014 to December 2025, simulated on Dukascopy data. The record starts in 2014 because the earlier price history of the pair is not good enough to publish, and this page shows what including it would have been worth.

How many pairs can I combine?

Kestrel is offered for EURUSD, GBPUSD, EURCAD and AUDCAD, and you combine from one to four pairs in the same account, then Patient, Active or both for each.

Why does the EURCAD record start in 2014?

Because the 2010–2013 price history we have for the pair produces an October 2010 episode that no other source reproduces, and sizing capital on it would mean sizing on a data flaw. Including it would move the EURCAD Patient recommendation from about €10,300 to about €57,000; we publish the exclusion, not the larger number.

Kestrel EURCAD Expert Advisor for MT4

The Kestrel EURCAD expert advisor is one of four pairs the Kestrel engine runs on MetaTrader 4, combined one to four in the same account. Its record runs from January 2014 to December 2025 — the earlier price history of the pair is not good enough to publish, and this page says what that exclusion is worth. Over that record, simulated on Dukascopy data, Patient made €14,826 at Horizon level with a worst floating loss of −€3,408 on 13 March 2017, and Active made €22,615 with −€5,887 on the same day.

What Kestrel does on EURCAD

Kestrel EA is a grid expert advisor for MetaTrader 4: it opens from its own signal, adds to the basket in small, capped steps when price moves against it, and closes the whole basket together at its target. It never closes a single trade at a loss; until the basket closes, the loss is floating.

The same engine runs on EURCAD as on the other three offered pairs, and both variants are published. EURCAD settles in Canadian dollars; the euro figures on this page use a fixed rate.

A stop-out is the moment a broker closes your positions because the account no longer covers them; the two floor rows are the smallest balances that would have survived the record at the 20% and 50% levels VT Markets publishes for its Standard STP and its Raw and Pro ECN accounts, the broker where our demo accounts run (Help Centre, checked 17 September 2026). The two variants share their worst day here — 13 March 2017 on both — which is exactly why running both is a bigger position, not a smaller risk. The software itself has run on two demo accounts since September 2026 — a forward test on demo, not a real account.

Why this record starts in 2014

The price history we have for EURCAD before 2014 is not good enough to publish. It produces an October 2010 episode that we cannot reproduce on any other source, and sizing capital on it would mean sizing on a flaw in the data rather than on the market. So the EURCAD record runs from January 2014 to December 2025, and every figure on this page says so.

You should know what that exclusion is worth. If we included 2010–2013, the capital we recommend for EURCAD Patient would go from about €10,300 to about €57,000 at Horizon level. We are not publishing the larger number as a recommendation, because we do not trust the data behind it — we are publishing it here so that you know exactly what we left out and which way it cuts.

We also checked whether the starting date changes the answer: reading the record from 2012 or from 2014 gives exactly the same recommended capital, because the worst moment of both readings is the same day in March 2017. We publish the more conservative of the two.

Combining EURCAD with the other pairs

Patient adds to a basket less often and holds a smaller worst case; Active adds more often, returned more in the backtest and reached a larger worst case; same rules, same basket close.
