Forex Flex EA vs Kestrel Expert Advisor
Forex Flex EA publishes nine real Myfxbook accounts and Kestrel publishes a sixteen-year simulation, so this comparison starts with the thing that separates them: one has a verified record and the other does not, and no drawdown figure changes that.

Where Flex is ahead
It has years of real accounts and Kestrel has none. That is the whole of it, and no simulated number cancels it out. A vendor who leaves nine accounts public, including the ones that fell 85 per cent, is showing more than most.
The range is also informative in a way a single number is not: the same expert advisor produced a 25.8% drawdown on one setting and 85.0% on another, which tells a buyer that the settings, not the software, decide the risk.
Where Kestrel is ahead
An account that falls 85% below its peak needs roughly seven times the capital of one that falls 12% to end the same episode in the same place. That is the cost of the drawdown column, and it is rarely priced into these comparisons.
Kestrel publishes the worst case and the account size it assumes together, per portfolio and level; there is no high-risk variant to choose, because every configuration is measured before it is sold. EURUSD Patient’s deepest fall from an equity peak is €2,788, which is 32.8% of the €8,500 that record recommends (2010 to September 2026, simulated); measured against the equity peak itself — the criterion Myfxbook uses — the percentage is smaller, because by then the peak sits well above the starting capital. Either way it is a simulation, so it belongs in a different column, not a better one.
The floating loss is the number that decides whether an account survives, because this family of strategies never closes a basket at a loss; it waits. Kestrel floated −€2,788 on EURUSD Patient on 21 August 2024, its worst instant in sixteen simulated years and 32.8% of the €8,500 that portfolio recommends. What you choose with Kestrel
Your pairs — 1 to 4 of EURUSD, GBPUSD, EURCAD and AUDCAD — then Patient, Active or both for each (Patient adds to a basket less often and holds a smaller worst case; Active adds more often, returned more in the backtest and reached a larger worst case); and the level whose recommended capital fits your account: Horizon €999, Summit €4,999 or Zenith €9,999 per year, VAT included. Like the kestrel that hangs still in the wind, the design holds one measured position instead of chasing every move.
Kestrel is a grid expert advisor for MetaTrader 4 — what that means, in full, is on Kestrel Grid EA for MT4: Expert Advisor With Controlled Lots, and the licence detail on Kestrel Forex Robot Price and Licence Levels.
Frequently asked questions
What drawdown does the Flex expert advisor publish?
Between 25.8 and 85.0 per cent across nine real accounts on 1:500 leverage, read from the vendor's Myfxbook profile on 26 September 2025. The spread comes from different strategy settings: the retrace account showed 25.8 per cent and the two trend accounts 85.0 and 74.5 per cent.
Which of the two has the longer record?
Flex, by a wide margin. Its accounts are real and have been running for years, while Kestrel has a 2010–2025 simulation and a forward test on demo that only started in September 2026.
Are the two expert advisors the same kind of strategy?
Both add to open positions rather than cutting them, which is why both publish drawdowns in tens of per cent rather than single digits. The difference is how fast the lot grows and whether the settings are chosen per account.
